Jeffrey B. Lewis is a Professor of Political Science at UCLA, where he studies democratic representation and develops methods to infer policy preferences from behavior.

Lewis is a leading voice in political methodology, having developed key tools that have transformed the way scholars study legislatures and electoral politics. Through his curatorship of Voteview, which tracks and analyzes roll call voting in the U.S. Congress, he contributes to public and scholarly understanding of ideological polarization and legislative behavior. He has served as president of the Society for Political Methodology and was editor of the American Political Science Review.

Lewis earned his PhD from MIT and previously served on the faculty of Princeton University. He has been at UCLA since 2001.
