Gary W. Brudvig
Gary Brudvig is the Benjamin Silliman Professor of Chemistry and professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry, professor of materials science at Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science, and director of the Yale Energy Sciences Institute.
Brudvig’s lab works to understand the chemistry of water oxidation in natural photosynthesis and to model this water-oxidizing chemistry with synthetic catalysts. An aim of improving the efficiency of solar-energy utilization is to develop a system that will efficiently produce renewable fuel using solar energy.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Brudvig earned his PhD at the California Institute of Technology and is an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow.
